Chase the Glimmer

At Live better longer, we use glimmers as a practical lever to move you forward—because they change your state in real time.

We’ve already talked about the two primary modes of the nervous system: fight or flight (activation) and rest and digest (recovery).

But there’s a third piece we want you to start noticing and using: the glimmer.

A glimmer is a micro-moment that signals safety to your nervous system—a song, sunlight, a deep exhale, a kind interaction.

It’s the entry point that shifts you out of stress and into the calm and connect state—where you think clearly, regulate emotion, and follow through.

Glimmers also trigger dopamine and oxytocin, making your brain more receptive to change.
What this looks like in real life:

  • Birdsong or quiet background sound

  • A sunrise or light coming through the window

  • Sunlight reflecting off snow or water

  • The clear, grounded feeling after a workout

  • A moment of connection after a call with a friend

  • Waking up and feeling balanced

  • Checking something off your list and feeling complete

  • Taking a slow, intentional first sip of coffee

  • Pausing mid-day, taking a breath, and feeling your shoulders drop

You have to notice your glimmers to use them as fuel for your wellness practice.
This week, notice—

Where are you, and

What are you doing

When you feel a glimmer?
