Snorkelers vs. Scuba Divers
There are two ways to approach a conversation.
Some stay on the surface—easy, engaging, a simple exchange of ideas. We think of this as snorkeling.
Others go deeper—pausing to reflect, asking more honest questions, and looking at what’s really going on. We call that scuba diving.
Both have their place.
So the question is: how do you show up when it comes to your wellbeing?
More on the surface? Or willing to go deeper?
In our work, we facilitate scuba diving—especially when it comes to wellness and healthspan. That’s what we did in The Better Room last week. A group of women chose to go deeper and quickly, a few things surfaced:
What came up:
This phase of life is shifting—and most women are navigating it quietly, on their own.
Purpose doesn’t need to be overthought. It works best when it’s simple, personal, and directional.
The “tired but wired” feeling, the inconsistency, the friction—there’s a pattern to it. It’s often your nervous system, your hormones, and your daily habits interacting.
When you get clear on what actually matters, your decisions start to clean up—fast.
What you can take from this—now:
Name what matters to you.
One thing that is only for you. That becomes your anchor.
Use the Six Pillars as your organizing system.
Instead of scattered effort, focus your energy here:Movement
Nourishment
Sleep
Mindfulness
Nature
Connection
Pay attention to your energy.
Stop pushing through blindly. Awareness is what allows you to adjust and improve.
And most importantly remember: you are not alone in this.
