Add Before You Subtract
August Is the Perfect Time to Add, Not Restrict.
August has a different rhythm. The days are longer. Fresh food is everywhere. You are likely spending more time outside, walking, swimming, gardening, traveling, or simply enjoying the season.
Rather than beating yourself up for the things you haven't done this summer, use August to add a few healthy habits while they feel easier. Those small additions can become the foundation you carry into the busier months ahead.
Most health advice starts with what you need to stop.
Stop eating sugar. Stop drinking wine. Stop eating carbs. Stop snacking.
No wonder healthy living can feel overwhelming. But what if the better question is:
What can I add?
When you add the right things, your body responds.
Add five minutes outside each morning, and you help regulate your body's internal clock.
Add 30 grams of protein at breakfast, and you'll likely have steadier energy and fewer cravings.
Add 2-3 strength workouts each week, you will be building muscle, protecting your bones, and supporting your metabolism.
Add a walk after dinner, and you improve blood sugar, digestion, and sleep.
Add meaningful time with people you love, and you strengthen one of the greatest predictors of a long, healthy life.
When you consistently add what your body needs, you naturally begin to want less of what doesn’t serve you. So before summer slips away, don't make another list of things you are going to eliminate. Choose one thing to add this week.
